Wednesday 5th November - walk *** – Nacton Shore to Levington Creek – Cloudy.

After two full-on windsurfing sessions at Levington I did have one eye on the forecast today but the day was cloudy and the wind only marginal so I went for option two, exercises, pack a picnic and head out in search of Autumn colours! I wasn’t sure where to go for a walk in the woods but we ended up parking at Nacton Shore at the first car park so we could walk down to the River Orwell surrounded by lovely Autumn colour:) We go to our seat on the green overlooking the Orwell as the tide drops for our picnic, yummy egg sandwiches but with a southerly breeze blowing across the river it was a tad on the chilly side! We did not linger too long before setting off on our walk taking the high path through the trees towards Levington Creek. This is a lovely walk as the path moves up and down surrounded by some impressive trees which sheltered us from the wind with some nice views of the Orwell! We usually turn back at the end of the woods but we decided to continue onto Levington Creek to see a new and dreadful fence that has been erected at the entrance to the creek for some reason???? There was loads of birds, ducks, geese and waders feeding in the mud on the river and the creek! We stop by the sluice and two swans come to see us and we feed them a whole tub of duck food and were lucky enough to spot a kingfisher whizz past! We return to the Orwell via the wooden walkway and take the shame route back to the van and home past Levington Marina seeing the deer too, we haven't seen them for awhile! Another big full moon tonight which I got a quick glimpse of before the clouds covered it!
